The Times podcast: Coyotes go urban; humans freak out on climate science; and more
From the first episode on, The Times podcast has been telling the story of the National Geographic Society’s largest fund drive ever, to document the human impact on the planet. This week, an interview with Ben Bessner, who helped put together the $125 million, three-year campaign: “How humans changed the planet—and what we can do.”
In the second episode, we’re joined by journalist and documentary producer Laura Batch; the host-producer of the Emmy-winning documentary “The Great American Polar Bear Experiment,” which tells the story of how humans are changing the planet and the polar bears. “What’s happening to our climate is not some problem that’s just out of our control. No one is trying to blame the polar bears,” she says. “We can change this, but there is a sense of urgency. And there’s a kind of shame that there isn’t a lot of urgency about the climate change issue.”
