Donna Vekic suffers mid-air fright ahead of Guadalajara victory
Sporting Club de Guadalajara are just one win away from the Liga Title after a 7-1 hammering of Atletico San Luis. In what can very well be the last match of the season, goalkeeper Anna Dibella was on target twice and scored the lone goal in the second half in one of the biggest wins in Guadalajara’s history.
GUAALAJARA: “We want to send out the biggest and greatest victory in our history this Sunday against Atletico San Luis and for all those who do not know who they are, they are a great side from a small town on the outskirts of Guadalajara, San Luis is a suburb of Guadalajara, located just outside the city. They have been in the league for a great three years and are one of the key teams to the promotion that we missed out on. I say “missed out”, but with a lot of hard work from the supporters and the club as well they want to claim the Liga Title.” – Cesar, goalkeeper
“This was our biggest success of the season and when you see our fans behind us throughout the match, you realise once again the incredible support for our team and this is very rewarding for us. The victory against San Luis was a very special achievement as we have won on a couple of occasions, but this was the first time we’ll get to celebrate a win of the season in front of our own fans. It is now time for us to take the next step and that is to focus on the championship, which is very important for the club. At the moment our focus is more on the goal ahead. We are very focused on the league and a win against San Luis will also give us a great confidence boost on the pitch.” – Cesar, Goalkeeper
“We won’t be satisfied with only one win, it is a great achievement to have won 7-1 on Sunday. We want to prove once again that we are the top team in the championship. We have the mentality and desire to win titles and if we continue this in the upcoming games, we can be sure that our goal will be to win the league
